This month marks the centenary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth, and to celebrate the anniversary, the Thai Film Archive in Salaya will show one of her most famous films, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, on 28th August. (The film was screened twice in Bangkok in 2017, at Scala and Bangkok Screening Room.)
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is one of the essential Monroe films (alongside Some Like It Hot and The Seven Year Itch), purely because of her iconic performance of Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend. (The sequence was the inspiration for Madonna’s Material Girl music video.)
