Iseast released the new single พวกมึงแม่งไม่แน่จริง (‘you’re not so tough’) today. The song is a frustrated reaction to Srettha Thavisin becoming Prime Minister last week, after the election winners, Move Forward, were denied a place in the governing coalition. The music video features clips of the 2014 coup announcement, Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat being suspended from parliament, and the events following this year’s election.
The lyrics accuse the junta of ‘seizing power’ (“กระชากอำนาจไปกอด”), subjecting dissidents to ‘attitude adjustment’ (“ให้ส่งแม่งไปแก้ทัศนคติ”), and using article 44 of their interim constitution to ‘justify their wrongful actions’ (“อะไรที่ผิด ม44 สิครับ เดี๋ยวแม่งก็เป็นถูกไปหมด”). According to the song, Prayut Chan-o-cha is ‘no different to a previous dictator, Suchinda Kraprayoon’ (“ว่ามุขเก่า ปี35 ไม่ต่างจากภาพ สุจินดา”). There are also references to the ‘water cannon, tear gas, and batons’ (“ฉีดน้ำ ฟาดกระบอง รมแก๊ส”) used by riot police against student protesters armed only with ‘inflatable ducks’ (“กูมีแค่มือกับเป็ดลม”).
