Quote of the day...

Quote of the day

“I am afraid that if the election goes ahead, there will be violence and it may lead to a coup.”
— Somchai Srisutthiyakorn

Election Commission of Thailand member Somchai Srisutthiyakorn has repeatedly called for the election to be delayed. In an interview with The New York Times two days ago, he made the oxymoronic and scaremongering claim that an election would lead to another coup.

Somchai’s public statements have added to the perception that the ECT is a partisan group intent on obstructing the election. Previous quotes of the day: hypocrisy from Suthep Thaugsuban, the army chief on the GT200, a yellow-shirt leader said that Thailand should be more like North Korea, the Information and Communication Technology Minister openly admitted to violating the Computer Crime Act, and a Ministry of Culture official patronised Thai filmgoers.
