Businessman David Sullivan has filed a defamation lawsuit against the BBC, seeking £150 million in damages, after an episode of Panorama accused him of predatory sexual behaviour. The programme, Predator: The Billionaire Football Boss, was broadcast on BBC1 on 8th June and repeated on BBC2 on 13th June, and it’s still available on the iPlayer streaming service. Panorama reporter Billy Kenber worked with The Times on a joint investigation into multiple allegations against Sullivan.
Other recent Panorama episodes have also resulted in libel lawsuits. Parcel delivery company Evri is suing over an episode broadcast earlier this year. Donald Trump’s lawsuit is still ongoing, in relation to an episode bradcast in 2024.
